About The Brodersons

The Ad Club of Maine’s Broderson Awards were created more than 35 years ago in memory of Dick Broderson, a radio personality and advertising professional who was dedicated to excellence in creativity. The awards recognize Maine agencies and professionals for exhibiting this same dedication in their own creative endeavors.

Joan Dow Award:

Recognizing Lifetime Creative Achievement, the Joan Dow Award was initiated in 1993. With this award, the Ad Club of Maine community recognizes a lifetime of service to the club, the industry, and the community at large.

Joan Dow is a commercial writer and stalwart of the Maine advertising community. She founded her ad agency, Dow & Associates, in 1980.

People’s Choice Award:

Maine Today Media presented a special insert in the April 2 Maine Sunday Telegram showcasing the top 5 entrants in the full page advertising category (as decided by our judges from the Portland Advertising Federation in Portland, Oregon). Readers voted for their favorite.

Student Award:

We’re pleased to announce that in addition to our creative awards, we’re supporting the future of creativity in Maine with a portion of every ticket sold to our 2017 event going to local students pursuing a degree in a creative field. At the 2017 awards, the Ad Club of Maine will be presenting $5,000 in scholarship to the top five entrants in the student category ($1,000 per student).
